Comic Summary

This is a story about a young stallion who was destined to become a hero. But he knows he is nothing of the sort, and still doubts himself after he is given the title "Heir Savior." Everyone in Okai believes in the prophecy, that one day a Savior will rise among them to free them from this dying land, from those bold sands that continue to devour their home. There is a way to escape, yet the question is, is the Heir Savior willing to do it? Is he willing to acknowledge himself after dismissing the prophecy as a tale? Follow Arawn, a "Royal" Ashk, as he comes to choose: The Sands, the Void, or the Heir Savior? They never really had a choice. ---

How The Void Work

UPDATED: (Newer ideas. I think I figured it out. Now it makes more sense hopefully?)
A [poor] explanation because it's probably confusing.
This is a Void. They are basically dark beings made to follow Dion the Void King. They are lifeless, thoughtless, and know no pain. Their only existence is to serve their master by destroying living horses/herds. They're not alive and they're not dead (kinda like horse zombies? eh) Based on their Void-age, they and be totally solid or be ghostly transparent. They can walk on solid ground or travel underground through the earth. Think of them maybe as living shadows. The Red, Blue, and Lost Guards all use Light Magic to fight back against them.

How they devour horses:
First, yeah typically. xD Open the maw so wide a little like how snakes do it.
and these black lines reaching for the poor horsie are soul-pullers. They go inside the body, pull the soul, and fight it until the soul gives up and leaves the body. Kind of like death.
Some horses are weaker than others and give up their soul faster. (Ashk are usually weak, blue and Red guards have moderate resistance, and the Lost are more or less very in touch with their souls, and that makes them most resistant against the Void.) Of course there are always exceptions, but the majority go by this rule. Captains and leaders have to be more resistant, naturally. Ashk Elders are about as resistant as the Lost are, with the Lost Elders being most powerful in this sense.

This happens in mere seconds. Then the Void goes through the horse's body like water. The white thing is the soul, which is still trying to fight.
When the soul gives up, the horse starts to turn black, signaling that it's almost totally Void.
The body then declines its ever being a good, living soul before and reconstructs itself to be Void and thoughtless (kinda throws up a lot and the eyeballs flip back into the head, it's creepy). The old body is still preserved for a while before it rots (because now it's basically dead, and dead bodies rot.) When it is Void, the horse changes form and can do everything Voids do.
So the soul kinda turns corrupt and dies in a way, and the body dies literally and is shrouded in black. Older Voids (who have decayed bodies, which aren't even physically there anymore) can travel underground and are transparent "souls" basically. Those who are newer and still have their old body intact can only wait until they've rotted. If that makes sense?
just in case:
Horses who have been turned Void a longer time ago are have transparent bodies because their old physical horse-body decayed.
&
Horses who have been turned Void just a short while ago are solid until the body rots, and the body dies when they are turned Void.
&
They all (newer & older) can attack other horses and turn them Void.

King Dion's goal (for this comic) is to capture the Heir Savior this way and use him (the Heir Savior's hoof 'key') to open the portal.
speaking of which, I have to explain the hoof key-portal thingy too.
it's on my agenda list.
